The B2Run Zagreb will take place on September 25, and at CorvusPay we are already preparing. This is not our first time. Just like in previous years, the team has gathered, the shirts are ready, and every Monday we have our “weekend analysis”: who ran how many kilometers, who skipped training because of rain or because they slept in, and, of course, who set a new personal record. For us, this event is much more than a race – it is a small tradition that brings us closer together on many different levels.
Almost one third of my colleagues are serious runners, with some of them completing half marathons. Another third enjoys running recreationally, while those who do not run take on the equally important role of supporters.
At CorvusPay, running is more than sport. It is a way of connecting, both inside and outside the office. When conversations start, runners quickly dive into discussions: which shoes are the best, which supplements support the best ankles and knees, or how to master a steep uphill section.
What stands out most is how running under the “company flag” creates a strong sense of unity. When we talk, encourage each other, and share laughter, a special kind of energy is created. It is not about competition. It is about a shared goal and the feeling that we are there for one another, no matter the pace or the distance. Even colleagues who do not run, but guard our belongings or wait in line for burgers or drinks after the race, feel like an essential part of the team. Sometimes, support is worth more than a seconds on the stopwatch.
Did You Know That Running in a Group Can Boost Motivation and Reduce Stress More Than Running Alone?
Studies show that the so-called conversational pace – the pace at which you can comfortably talk while running – not only helps to build endurance, but also improves focus. At CorvusPay we can confirm this from experience: conversations on the track often end in bursts of laughter that make our stomachs hurt – that is fitness in its own way – along with useful tips and plans for the next shared training session.
It is also said that running in a group builds personal discipline and helps establish a routine, which are additional benefits of running together. Even I, the little bird flying above my colleagues as they run, can see how this experience connects us and lifts the energy of the whole team.
The B2Run connects our hobbies with something greater. Running becomes an opportunity to build positive energy, as colleagues who might not normally work closely together share experiences, encourage one another, and celebrate small victories side by side. When asked what they enjoy most about this tradition, the answer is always the same: “Spending time together after the run, in a relaxed atmosphere, with a beer in hand.”
All of this reflects our slogan “pay freely, live freely.” By a freer life we mean moments spent together, time in nature, laughter, and doing what we love – those small pleasures that make life special. Along the way, we create memories and support one another.
See you on the track,
Edgar
